Mila Austin and her best friend, Lucas Gennery, made a pact: graduate college, return home, and start the rest of their lives … together.
One phone call changed everything.
Now, Mila is back in Radeno, Texas, lost and alone with an ache in her heart eased by the one person she shouldn’t get close to—Lucas’s older brother, Ryan.
Grief bonds them, tethers them in a way Mila didn’t see coming, and when it’s time to let go, she’s not sure if she can.
Because finally letting go of Lucas could mean losing Ryan as well.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but the first time is the hardest.
I am in awe of this author’s writing. The characters and the story made me cry more than once. If an author can pull emotions from me just from the writing it’s a big deal. I only have a few authors that can do that and I am adding this one to that list!
When Mila gets a phone call that her best friend in the entire world has died, her world falls apart. But when Lucas’s older brother and Mila start getting closer than they have ever been their families start throwing fits and telling her that Ryan isn’t good for her, he is so different from his little brother. Grief has a tendency to bring people together and Ryan and Mila needed each other. This title fits this story perfectly.
Watching this story unfold kept me in tears for most of the book which is good because the author did one great job of making me feel Mila and Ryan’s pain. Made me remember that life is short and no matter what you think you can put off till tomorrow, you really can’t because tomorrow is never promised.
