Family is power. The Original vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together always and forever. But even when you’re immortal, promises are hard to keep.
Arriving in New Orleans in 1722, Original vampire siblings Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson believe they’ve escaped their dangerous past. But the city is lawless, a haven for witches and werewolves unwilling to share territory. The siblings are at their mercy…especially after Klaus meets the beautiful and mysterious Vivianne. Her impending marriage is key to ending the war between the supernatural factions—and Klaus’s attraction to her could destroy the uneasy alliance. As Elijah works toward securing a piece of the city for his family, and Rebekah fights her unexpected feelings for a French captain, will Klaus’s volatile desires bring their world crashing down—and tear them apart for good?
First, let me just say that I was a HUGE Vampire Diaries fan but, I have yet to see an episode of The Originals GASP! I KNOW I KNOW – I just don’t watch much TV and usually catch up after the fact, so its on the to do list.
This was a fantastic story, I loved reading about The Originals start in New Orleans and how things came to be. I was totally captivated by the events that unfolded between Klaus and Vivianne, their story really was the clincher for me because I never really cared much for Klaus, but now I can see him in a little different light.
Elijah is the smart one though, he seems to always be looking ahead and planning for things to come and protecting his family. My heart even broke for Rebecca. I’m keeping this review a bit short because I don’t want to give anything away for anyone not familiar with the series but I can tell you this, do not pass this book up, I found it to be a much needed different approach to a world where vampires, werewolves and witches exist, its more realistic, more believable and even gives you the background on how vampires come to be.
The Originals, The Rise is set in the mid 1700’s in New Orleans, while I am not a fan of historical books AT ALL, I did not have a problem with this one a single bit and now I find myself trying to decide which team to root for, the vampires, the werewolves or the witches.
It was truly an honor to be selected to review The Originals, The Rise and a thoroughly enjoyable experience reading it.
The Originals, The Rise was received for an honest review.
