Portrait of man with Halloween skull makeup

A Dark Novel

Author: Mary E. Palmerin

Publication Date: January 19, 2016

Are people born pure?

Is evil learned, or is it birthed into one’s soul, like a fallen angel who was previously part of graciousness?

Rhys is decayed, black, and bad. He cut distortion out of his life years before, but he let her live; his only way to gain redemption once more.

As his sinful needs blanket him with dread, he seeks penance from the soul he saw as a second chance.

Is absolution too late for Rhys?

Those warnings that authors put on their books to warn you if the book has very bad things happen in the book that some people may not be able to handle, Listen to them!! Read them, take the warning and for petes sake don’t take them lightly! Now onto my review.
This book was so very dark. A nightmare worse than most nightmares. Blood, gore, love and pain just to name a few. Not sure how Blood, gore and love can be said all in the same sentence but that describes this book and Rhys. Blood turns him on and the things he does seem to calm in a way that no one would understand.
Rhys is looking for his half sister and this is where the story really gets bloody and worse. But Rhys doesn’t deal with anything in his mind except by causing pain, a pain he can’t get rid of, it’s a part of him and he needs to find her because she is the only one that can calm his inner demons or so he thinks. I am not sure if anything can calm his inner demons except death of himself and then I’m not even sure if those demons would really be dead.
This is what nightmares are made of and what you think of when demons are mentioned. I really loved this book from beginning to end. I started feeling disgusted at Rhys for the way he was feeling, for what he did to all his victims. But by the end of the book, I wasn’t so disgusted with him anymore. It’s not his fault he is the way he is, circumstances made him that way and he is just trying to survive in a world that only he understands. By the end of this book, I was looking at Rhys a different way and I can’t wait to read the next installment for this series. Rhys is just trying to deal with what the world has given him and that isn’t what anyone should be given.
